About David Bradford, Webinar Presenter
David Bradford is a UW grad with degrees in medicine and business who speaks regionally to history and genealogy groups about technology and medical topics. He has been a member of the Rock County Genealogical Society and the Sheboygan County Historical Research Center for more than 25 years and has served board chairperson and secretary of the RCGS. He is currently the long term webmaster for the Society. In addition, he and Janet Bradford have indexed multiple atlases, plat maps and out-of-print historical books. He was recognized by the Wisconsin Genealogy Society in 2012 with the Virginia V. Irvin genealogy award.

This program describes the evolution of medicine since the 1600s and the terrible diseases (and often terrible treatments) that our ancestors endured. The handout provides a helpful dictionary of common archaic medical terms and discusses reasons for and changes in death certification, including the interpretation of doctor’s remarks and reliability of genealogical data found there.
