PROGRAM 1: BUILDING & USING TIMELINES FOR GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH
- Speaker: Ruth Anderson, RCGS Librarian & Archivist, Genealogist, and Member of Several Heritage Societies
- Presentation: Your stories are often told chronologically. This program will explore where to find useful details to enhance a story’s timeline. She will also demonstrate finding and using timeline materials to bring to life your historical families.
PROGRAMS 2 & 3: AGRICULTURAL GENEALOGY, I & II (The History of Commodities)
- Speaker: Michael Roach, Korean War Veteran, Retired Tech Firm Manager and Casual Historian. He is a retired renewable energy manager who, after three decades in New York City, now lives in a small Wisconsin farm town surrounded by vast green fields of corn and soybeans.
- Presentation One: It is important to track not only the modern network of a commodity chain, but also to examine the genealogy of that commodity through history. This exploration of a commodity’s history will help to understand how changes in climate, technology and labor processes affect the form and life span of that commodity.
- Presentation Two: This exploration will help us see that the commodities in front of us today progressed through complex histories that affected our ancestors. The evolution of these products, and the accompanying technologies, will stimulate your imagination.
Program 4: TIME TO SELL ANOTHER STEER (BUILDING A LASTING FAMILY LEGACY)
Click "Download File" below to view the Conference Brochure:
- Speaker: Bill Mueller, Author, Genealogist, Humorist, and Storyteller.
- Presentation: When you have eleven kids, and there is a bill to pay, it’s Time to Ship Another Steer. This is a fun look at growing up on the family farm with ten brothers and sisters. He will share simple ideas on how to save your family’s history. Bill will make you laugh. His stories will touch your heart, and bring back many special memories. Bill originally wrote this book for his grandchildren.
Before he is finished, many of you will be thinking of ways you can also leave a rich legacy for your children, and grandkids.
